apex_barrel_for_raptor_tactical_rifled_barrel.jpg The latest buzz is all about barrels that have spiral threads/rifles inside of them that allow you to spin your paintball - giving you further distance and even letting you ‘direct’ or curve your shot.  Well there is actually is such an animal and it’s called the APEX BarrelThis is a thread-on barrel, you can attach to the tip of all RAPTOR Barrels and the 7/8 RECON rifled barrel.  The APEX gives you the power, distance, accuracy and the performance of a rifled barrel with the ability of the Tippmann Flatline Barrel.  With the APEX and RAPTOR / RECON rifled barrel combination you are guaranteed to get more distant, accuracy and more elimination than ever before.  Here is how it works….. The APEX barrel has an adjusting switch that allows you to control how much curve to put on the ball.  You can turn the APEX barrel to curve up, down, left or right.  This allows you to have full control where the paintball will land.  With the APEX barrel you will able to shoot around an object at a curve to take out your opponent.  This is the biggest “cheat” advantage upgrade you can get for your paintball marker.  If straight shot does not do the job, you can take out your opponent hiding behind rocks, trees, bunkers or any other obstructing objects with a curve.  You can make impossible shots with this barrel!  The APEX Thread On Barrel is compatible with all Raptor Tactical Rifled Barrels, Tactical Barrels, Spyder MR1, MR2, MR3 7/8th inch Recon Barrels, and Tippmann X7 7/8th inch Recon Barrels.  You can find this awesome paintball gun upgrade at www.choicepaintballguns.com.

landgroove.jpgRecently, there have been a number of products to come out that are reputed to add a ’spin’ to your paintball as it comes out of the paintball gun barrel.  The barrel itself has to be ‘rifled’, however this just means it has tiny grooves in it.  If you just buy a ‘rifled’ tactical barrel, this doesn’t necessarily mean it will put a spin on your paintball.  You have to make sure the rifled grooves have a ’spiral’ shape to them inside the barrel.  There are two paintball gun barrels out there right now that will do this.  One is called the Hammerhead barrel and the other is called the APEX barrel.  The Hammerhead barrel is a full length barrel that will fit on all the Tippmann guns, T68, BT, PCS and Spyder paintball guns.  It has spiralled rifling grooves throughout the length of the barrel and will put a spin on your ball.  If you want even more control, check out the APEX barrel.  This one is not a whole length barrel, but rather an attachment to the end of a barrel; it works best if you attach it on the end of a rifled tactical barrel.  The APEX barrel attachment will allow you to direct your paintball either by shooting farther, or you can have it veer to the right or left.  It even has a tiny switch on the side of it so you can choose which direction you want the paintball to curve to.  This thing should be unfair/illegal to have one on the paintball field as you can hit you opponents while they’re hiding behind bunkers!

images_products_markers_alpha-black_t106007_large.jpgThe Alpha Black has already broken record sales but get ready…. the new Alpha Black Camo Edition is going to be an even bigger hit!  It’s already proving to be extremely popular so if you want one and don’t want to wait, the time to buy is now!  RAP4 must’ve known these guns were going to be ultra-popular because they’ve come up with a whole bunch of different handguards, barrels, stocks, upgrade kits and just overall bad ass combinations of cool gadgets to add to this paintball marker.  Check out the Alpha Black Frostbite Sniper and the Alpha Black Tactical sniper paintball gun; these would make fine additions to any sniper’s quiver of sleek, sneaky paintball death machines.  The Alpha Black M16 marker is also a great looking piece of equipment.  Wait until you see all the recent upgrades for this gun too…. you can’t have a machine gun without an electronic trigger (of course they sell one at www.choicepaintballguns.com…. http://www.choicepaintballguns.com/product/J001180).  There is also a new 45 degree swivel bipod that will attach to the Alpha Black that’s very innovative and definitely going to be part of my personal collection.  If you’re looking for cool mounts to add scopes or lasers to, this gun has got it.  The best thing about all the Alpha Black’s new accessories are all the different handguards/barrel kits; the M4 barrel kit and the RIS barrel kit are a couple to definitely check out.

gametypes.jpgHere are a few more general tips to follow that will help you better learn how to hunt the human animal in the Paintball jungle.
Stalking. Learn how to stalk. No, I’m not talking about harassing people by following them around.  Stalking is the art of tracking the prey until the best moment and then, when all the possible advantages are with you, taking the shot.  An exercise you can do to learn the technique is to pick out a player on the opposite paintball team and do whatever you can to eliminate that player.  This difficult task will show you how to find and plan taking the shot at the proper moment.

Teamwork- Although the ethic of the Hunter doesn’t require teamwork, you would be a fool not to use it to your advantage.  Also, you may find other Hunters out there to hunt with.  Teammates and flags can be used as bait to draw out your prey.  The Hunter has little use for flags, but the teams will focus on it and it can be used as irresistible bait for an ambush.  Another successful hunting technique is to use your teammates to flush out the other team and move them toward your position.

Equipment- Any type of Paintball gun can be used by the Hunter, but the best type should be a semi or pump with good long range accuracy. The high rate of a semi comes in handy with multiple targets, but a pump has the advantage of better accuracy. Both types require some sort of sights to be used, as all shots should be well aimed. Hunting in the Paintball Jungle is exhiliarating and fun - where else do you get to hunt and shoot at other humans that’s not in Afghanistan?

  • mask.jpgFirst, get the main piece of paintball equipment; this is your paintball marker or paintball gun.  Ranging widely in price, there are also many styles and brands to choose from.  Pump action guns and semi-automatic paintball guns are popular.  The most popular paintball marker nowadays is the electronic style; all the great brands offer them now… Tippmann, Spyder, T68 Gen6 and even competition markers; Dye, Proto Matrix, Planet Eclipse and many more come with or upgrade to an electronic trigger.
  • Next, choose the correct face mask to play paintball.  The face mask is one of the most important parts of your gear.  It’s important to make sure that the face mask covers your whole face and your ears.  Face masks also have different types of lenses; the most popular being the anti-fog lens.  It is crucial that the face mask fits properly so that it doesn’t slide down your face or fall off during a game.  It’s also important you use paintball masks that have a safety rating.  The V-type, Hawkeye and Tippmann paintball Goggles all have high ratings.
  • Pick clothing as another important element of paintball equipment and gear. Purchase a paintball jersey that doesn’t fit too tightly.  If it’s loose, it will absorb some of the velocity of incoming paintballs, thus helping to minimize bruising during a game….. yes, there’s bruising involved in paintball sometimes.
  • Wear pants for a paintball game that have pads built in for sliding, kneeling and sudden drops to the knees as you play.  Get knee and elbow pads, too.  It’s also important to buy paintball gloves as part of your gear to protect your hands.

leavingfort.jpgHere are a few general guidelines to follow that will help you learn how to hunt the human animal in the Paintball jungle.
Observation- When waiting for a good shot, don’t stare at your intended target.  Keep looking around.  If you are trying to ambush someone, staring at them will prevent you from seeing other things that may be going on around you and it is said that prey can often sense when a predator is watching and waiting.  Did you ever get the feeling you were being watched? Maybe there was a predator nearby.
Stealth- This covers a rather broad area.  It all comes down to being quiet, moving using the best cover available and in general being as sneaky as possible.  It also helps to use some sort of camouflage, or at least don’t wear bright colors or clothing with high visibility advertisements printed on it.  If you’re a sniper, consider getting a ghillie suit.
Patience- When in a position, often the prey will be too nervous to sit still for very long. This is especially true of new players.  The adrenaline is flowing, things are happening all around them and they just can’t sit and do nothing.  Often you can out wait them.  They move first, you get an easy target.
Range. Learn your paintball gun’s range.  Don’t waste shots over 125 feet.  You might get lucky with a long-range shot, but you can’t depend on it.  A good technique is to wait for them to come to you.  Some Hunters are true snipers.  They practice learning their maximum effective range under varying conditions and use a range card.  This is a simple silhouette cut out the size of a person at maximum range.  If a person fills the same size as the cut out in the hand held card, he is in range.  Also use the right paintball equipment.  Get a sniper paintball gun (or at least one with a 18-20″ tactical rifled barrel) and use a paintball sight or a good mid-long range scope.

casnfpqg.jpgThese are best type for small paintball fields, Mission Oriented paintball scenario games divide the day into a series of missions.  The total number of players is divided into two equal groups and a leader is selected for each team.  Each mission begins in the assembly area with the 2 team leaders being given a map and written mission orders for the upcoming game.  The teams will have to perform opposing mission assignments within a specified time.  When that time expires, or the mission of one paintball team is accomplished, the players return to the break area and receive the next mission.  The game can be played with the teams assuming alternating offense and defense roles, with the defending team entering the field first.  The advantage for this type of scenario game is that it offers the producers excellent control through the use of written mission orders for each game, selected areas designated and prepared in advance, and set times for each mission and breaks.  A typical single day Mission Oriented scenario game might allow up to 12, 30 to 45 minute missions with 15 minute breaks between the missions.  Mission Oriented paintball scenario games rely heavily on the use of prop objects placed on the field before the game.  The field is usually ’seeded’ with props like ammo boxes, document envelopes, a dummy, or unusual items like a balloon tied to a tree or a cooler full of soda.  Placing these objects on the field in advance reduces the task of running the props out to their correct position before each mission.  During the course of a mission, the offense paintball team is tasked with locating and returning an object to the break area while the defense team acts to prevent that from happening.  Other type missions include setting up ambushes, attempting to capture or eliminate a specific enemy player, or the classic downed pilot rescue.

flute_sniper_barrel.jpgRAP4 has come out with a new 22 inch sniper barrel called the Fluted sniper barrel.  This barrel will give you supreme performance on the paintball field.  They thought ahead when they made this bad boy too; it will fit on virtually any paintball gun….. the 22 inch fluted barrel will fit all the Tippmanns (Tippmann 98, A5 and X7), Spyder paintball guns, Viewloader, Smart Parts and of course the T68 Gen6 tactical paintball markers.  It also fits on the Tippmann Alpha Black.  Unlike the 22 inch super sniper barrels, this is a ‘true’ 22 incher!  The 22 inch super sniper barrels are really only an 18″ barrel with a 4″ muzzle brake that doesn’t actually touch the paintball - so it’s kind of a misnomer calling it a 22 inch barrel.  Yes it’s 22 inches long, but no the actual barrel length is not 22 inches.  Well the new 22 inch fluted sniper barrel is actually 22 inches long.  It also uses the ‘fluted’ technology.  This means is has multiple tiny holes in the last 8 inches or so of the barrel that will force air out ahead of the paintball as it pushes through.  This will allow for less drag on the ball allowing for a farther shot.  The 22 inch flute sniper barrel is also a rifled barrel - meaning there are tiny grooves throughout it’s length inside that also cuts down on the surface area that actually touches the paintball allowing for less drag as well.  Guess what?  It’s also CHEAPER than the 22 inch super sniper barrel; go figure.  You can find this excellent paintball gun barrel upgrade at www.choicepaintballguns.com!

t68_m240_machine_gun_c.jpgThe M240 paintball gun is a lightweight, gas-operated, 200 round magazine-tube-fed, individually portable paintball-machine-gun capable of delivering a large volume of effective fire.  The M240 provides accurate fire on par with the accuracy of a regular paintball marker, yet gives the heavy volume of fire common to a heavy mounted machine gun.  The M240 paintball gun fires standard .68 caliber paintballs using a standard 200 round loader, with realistic selective firing modes: semi, 3 round burst and full auto at 500+ rounds per minute.  The unit features all metal construction and weighs 13lbs.  The M240 operates with both CO2 and compressed air, using a remote line.  If you’re going to spend the money on this bad-boy, perhaps you should think about getting a good electronic loader to help speed things up a bit, like the Pinokio hopper that can also hold up to 400 rounds.  This M240 is the full size version.  It features a solid stock and a long barrel.  It is designed to suppress fire, cover tactical maneuvers, and can be mounted on vehicles.  The M240 series paintball gun provides a valuable, realistic training tool for military combat training and gives operators a true-to-life feel… as if they are training with their duty gear.  This gun is great for military simulation as well as full scale scenario paintball games.  You can find it on www.choicepaintballguns.com Big Guns & Heavy Artillery section.

This is a fun game to play if you have 3 teams.  The object of the game is for one player on one team to have in possession all the flags.  Here’s how you play….
One player from each team is designated “Flag Runner” or “Flag Bearer”.  That player must keep in possession his/her team’s Flag plus any other flags that are captured.
The Flag Runner must stay in motion.  No bunkering or hiding for any length of time.  One minute is allowed to catch  one’s breath or regroup with teammates.  This excludes lengthy firefights. (If you are in a firefight, then you’re in a firefight.)
Teams are allowed to break up into whatever squads or individuals they like.  Any amount of paintballs can be carried or borrowed from teammates (if they’re willing).  No running back to camp for more paintball ammo
If the Flag Runner is out, then his Flags are up for grabs.  The Runner plants them wherever he/she gets out.  Any team that can lay hands to them, gets them.  If a member of the same team grabs the Flags, then they are the new flag runner for that team.
Hunters…. anyone not staying with their Runner may go out to hunt for the other Flags.  If they manage to score one, they must take it directly to their team’s Runner to hand it over.  You’re going to want a few guys to stay with and protect your flag runner and you’ll want the rest of the team as Hunters to try and score the other team’s flags.
The Flag Runners may carry whatever they wish as far as paintball markers and paintball ammo. But keep in mind that you may be carrying two or three flags at the same time; so you may just want to carry a small paintball pistol with some extra paintballs or something small, fast and light.
Starting bases…. far enough apart to make it interesting.  Separate corners for different teams.  The team that ends up with all the flags is the winner.
