It’s All About Team Work

When the uninitiated think of paintball, they probably envision camouflage-fatigued paramilitary figures running through the woods with a few paintball rifles. The truth is much more complicated, however, as the sport is enjoyed by a diverse range of adherents. In recent years, successful businesses have utilized paintball retreats as valuable team-building exercises.  In fact, many paintball fields offer their fields for rent to corporate entities for this specific purpose.

Paintball instills discipline while also teaching players to take risks. It doesn’t take an expert to figure out how well these attributes would translate to the business world. As team members learn to depend on one another to achieve a common goal, they develop a sense of trust that works to the advantage of the entire business. Many times, it takes communication, trust and team work to accomplish your mission in a paintball game; these attributes also carry over well into the business world.

mich_style_military_training_helmet_s.jpgThe paintball mask I like to use is the JT full head grey and black mask.  I feel the full head mask is the best way to go.  Of course I like the protection it provides but I like it for other reasons as well….  1. With the full head mask, you never have to worry about the mask falling down your face,  2.  you have much better visibility in your peripherals,  3. a full head mask goes down further in the front of your face providing protection to a bit of the neck as well.  I also think it looks much better in general; it’s more intitmidating looking.  The full head mask also provides protection to the top of your head, the back of you head and your ears.  The next mask I get will be the Hawkeye mask with tactical helmet now that we are getting more into scenario paintball competitions.  This mask is definitely one to look for on the market; but you can get great deals on them at www.choicepaintballguns.com.  When you’re upgrading your paintball supplies, you should have a check list to go through.  First buy a better/upgrade your paintball gun, second buy a good mask, third get a better barrel, fourth change to hpa and fifth upgrade the gun to the look that you want… but the second step is buy a good mask.  I highly recommend the jt full head mask or the Hawkeye mask with tactical helmet for full head coverage. I just went to Skirmish this last weekend, for the invasion of Normandy. I had a great time with my friends.  Everyone there was nice and friendly.  It was nonstop fun when the doors dropped at 12, and it didnt end until 1 the next day.  All kinds of marker dealers such as Tippmann, and Eclipse were there.  There were more than 4,000 people there for this great weekend.  All the players camped out on the field Friday and Saturday night. I had a great time and I hope to go again for many years to come.  Everything ran smoothly, and was started and finished on time.  I doubt that there was anyone there who had a bad time.  I will never forget that experience, and I hope to return again next year. If you like big scenario paint ball games, I highly recommend going to Skirmish for the Invasion of Normandy.

downsized_0703091348.jpgWhen playing on the field during big game scenario events there are certain things you will want to try to do in order to secure a win.   Move your players up on the paintball field and find flanking positions.  Next, give them a command to slowly move up and I don’t mean rush up the field to the enemy like the russians did in WW2.  I mean methodically push up the field for better cover and better positioning.  Be careful if you are one of those players that stand toward the back and just yells for the entire game…. “move up, move up, Keep going, blah, blah, blah.  Your team’s movement will definitely be much more efficient if you only have one guy yelling commands and calling the shots.  Also when playing finding better positions on the field is key.  If you can find a spot on the flank of your enemy then you can win; you will hold an advantage on the field and be able to take out many of the enemy.  So, as an overview, keep moving forward to improve your position and try to flank your enemy.  Use your player’s with different paintball guns strategically as well… put the guys with the fastest or automatic paintballs guns in the front, sniper paintball guns for accurate shots in the back.

downsized_0703091352.jpgThere are basically two types of games in paintball…. Speedball and Woodsball.  Speedball is a fast paced timed game that generally lasts from 10-15 minutes depending on the match.  This game is played on a field with blow-up inflatable bunkers to hide behind and shoot.  The paintball guns used are very light, technical and super fast.  Good guns to use for competition speedball are the Spyder Electra, Planet Eclipse Etek, or Smart Parts Ion Xe.  Woodsball is also known as scenario paintball and is generally played in the woods, or anywhere you are allowed to play paintball is more played like military scenario missions.  Woodsball is becoming more and more popular and now there are many large tactical scenario paintball competitions/games (D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, etc.) you can play in.  The paintball guns used in woodsball are military replica machine guns and pistols; excellent guns are the Tippmann X7, T68 and Tippmann Alpha Black.  Players often wear camoflage clothing, tactical vests and attach real rifle parts to their paintball guns.  These include scopes, flashlights, sights and different handguards and buttstocks.  Woodsball scenario paintball games are also timed but can sometimes last all day or even several days long.  Whichever type of paintball you decide to play, just remember one thing - they’re all totally fun!  Make sure you get all your paintball gear at www.choicepaintballguns.com, they have all the cheapest and best selection of gear!
