paintballLast weekend, my friends and I got together for what can only be described as a paintball war. Our typical battles last a few hours, but this encounter was epic. We started at 8am on Saturday morning, and after a short hiatus for the evening, didn’t finish until after noon the next day.

Each side had over 50 players, and in the end, I am happy to say, my team prevailed. Strategy was definitely the determining factor, as each team was equally skilled. We used a combination of guerilla warfare with strategically placed sharpshooters armed with sniper paintball rifle weaponry in lofty perches.

paintballA rifle is a gun with a long barrel that is fired from the shoulder. Spiral grooves inside the barrel make the bullet spin, improving its accuracy over a long distance.  Rifle scopes are used on rifles to magnify the target from a low 3x to as much as 9 or 12x. Some hunters find that as they age, their eyes simply can’t focus as they used to. The scope will correct this defect.

Selecting the correct rifle scope will involve considerations such as mechanics and construction, image quality and magnification. A person will buy a rifle scope for any of a variety of activities, from traditional hunting rifles to paintball rifles for recreation; the correct scope should be chosen for these activities. Visit sporting shops to know more about the rifle scope that you need.

It’s All About Team Work

When the uninitiated think of paintball, they probably envision camouflage-fatigued paramilitary figures running through the woods with a few paintball rifles. The truth is much more complicated, however, as the sport is enjoyed by a diverse range of adherents. In recent years, successful businesses have utilized paintball retreats as valuable team-building exercises.  In fact, many paintball fields offer their fields for rent to corporate entities for this specific purpose.

Paintball instills discipline while also teaching players to take risks. It doesn’t take an expert to figure out how well these attributes would translate to the business world. As team members learn to depend on one another to achieve a common goal, they develop a sense of trust that works to the advantage of the entire business. Many times, it takes communication, trust and team work to accomplish your mission in a paintball game; these attributes also carry over well into the business world.

Gaining a Mental Edge

Paintball is a mere hobby for some enthusiasts, but others take the sport much more seriously. In the world of competitive paintball, a slight technological advantage can mean the difference between thrilling victory and agonizing defeat. High-tech equipment bolsters a player’s odds of winning a game of paintball, and the benefits aren’t just physical. Advanced players often utilize intimidation techniques to gain a mental edge.

Simple accessories such as rifle scopes can up the mental ante while also providing a true boost to a player’s performance. A laser paintball sight is sure to psych out the competition, especially when another player glances down and notices a little red light trained at chest level. Dedicated players can take intimidation to the next level with increasingly elaborate forms of artillery. Just the way a paintball grenade launcher looks attached to the barrel of your favorite tactical marker can make your opponents fear for their life.  Paintball tanks certainly cause a stir when they rumble through the forest seeking a moving target.

m4_gear.jpgWhat do you think about the direction that paintball is heading in?  Direction meaning new equipment coming out, the way competitions are run, scenario paintball getting bigger, etc.
I love the current direction that paintball is heading; I think it’s heading in the right direction and it’s a very good one.  I think more and more people are starting to experience the fun of paintball.  More and more people are joining teams and wanting to compete in both speedball and tactical tournaments; competition is definitely getting better and bigger.  The new equipment coming out has also improved a great deal.  Paintball guns keep getting more advanced - making them more efficient so they shoot and operate a lot better.  For what they used to have, compared to the technology they have now….. paintball markers have actually gotten cheaper!  In other words it used to cost a lot more for some of the ‘extras’ that now come standard on a good paintball gun.  There’s no doubt about it though, you get what you pay for.  If you spend less than $150 on a paintball gun, don’t expect it to carry you very far.  But then on the other hand, if you spend $750 on a sweet tactical paintball gun, that sucker better run well and there’d better be some kind of warranty!  With the development of more advanced paintball equipment, scenario paintball is also getting bigger, better and more fun.  I also think the way some of the fields are set up nowadays has also really improved and added to the fun of the game.
