All paintball guns may look the same but it is important to remember that choosing the right paintball marker is not an easy task.  Here are some tips that you may need to consider:
1. The very first thing that needs to be considered when buying a paintball gun is the price. It is important that the buyer determine his budget for the gun. There are many paintball markers in the market and prices may range from $100 to $900. The cost of the gun will depend on the brand and features that come with it.
2. It is recommended a person test a specific type of gun before buying one.  You may want to try those that you’ve borrowed or rented which will give you the chance to choose which one that works best for him. 3. Before buying a paintball gun, it is important that he decide on the size of the gun, the paintball loader and the tank that he desires. I just got my Alpha Black, it’s a fairly new line from Tippmann, but they are now starting to come out with new stuff by the dozens.  Anyway it has to be the single most reliable gun I’ve ever used.  I was playing at my local field, Frosty’s Revenge, a big winter game, and I dropped it right on the ice.  I’m 6′ tall so it was a pretty long fall, I was very worried about it but when I checked it out, absolutely nothing changed, nothing broke, it was just like new!  Besides the durability and reliability, it performs amazingly with the standard 11″ barrel it comes with, I was hitting targets 40-50 yards away, with great accuracy.  Toss an Apex barrel on that baby and you have yourself a definant force to be reckoned with on any paintball field.  It’s incredibly well priced through www.choicepaintballguns.com, not to mention all the extras you can get.  I’d highly recommend getting an Apex barrel, and if you’re a woodsball/tactical player, the frostbite barrel kit….  if I’m getting the accuracy that I am with this 11′ barrel, I couldn’t imagine what I’d be dishing out with this kit.  Not to mention with a seriously fierce look; in big games, between it and a little bit of demoralizing yelling you’ll be right on your enemy.  The Alpha Black is DEFINITELY a must-have for ALL beginners, or certainly experienced players.  Now that Tippmann has released more upgrades, don’t forget to include a compatible Apex barrel; if you have the money to spend on upgrades, this is definitely a gun that you need.  Korian D., Barrie ON

The answer to this question depends on several factors… what you want your sniper to look like, what you want it to do and how much you’re willing to spend.  Of course the sniper paintball markers that cost the most generally have the most ’stuff’ stuck to them and will obviously be able to do more.  For example the T68 Gen6 Extreme Sniper comes with a Phantom Thunger grenade launcher but this one goes for around $900 - it’s a top-end gun with many available options.  Since sniper paintball guns are basically different brand name paintball guns with sniper attachments, your decision should be based on which type of gun do you like to shoot the best….. Tippmann 98, Spyder, BT, Tippmann X7, Tippmann A5 and of course the T68.  Beyond this, it’s a decision about how long you want your sniper barrel, what kind of barrel, what kind of buttstock you want, how powerful of a scope or any other things you can mount on it to make it more rad.   I personally like the way the Tippmann X7 sniper paintball guns look and shoot, but it’s all up to you.  You can’t ignore the realism of the T68 having the capability of using a magazine and/or hopper.  The Alpha Black sniper is also a great looking marker.  After you’ve decided on what type/brand of gun you want to make your sniper, here are a few things you must have to make sure your sniper paintball marker is the baddest-ass paintball war machine on the planet….
You definitely want your sniper paintball gun to have a flexi-air buttstock; this will re-route your gun’s air so you can put your CO2/hpa inside the buttstock.  There is also a little valve you can buy (called a 90 degree One Way Valve Adaptor) that will also allow you to switch right to a larger tank as soon as your gun’s tank is empty.  I would also outfit my sniper with a 45 degree Swivel Bipod; this way you can turn your paintball gun and not have to pick up your bipod to point at a different target.  As a sniper, I like the one shot, one kill idea, but I would still equip your sniper paintball marker with an electronic trigger just in case your target starts to get to close or there’s many targets close together.  A good scope to use is any of the Red Dot Sights/Scopes or a 3-9X40 Rubber Armor scope will do the trick.  I would recommend the new Rubber Armored Mark III Tactical with Laser; this way you will have a great scope + a laser already mounted to it, it also has a quick release mount.  Finally, just make sure you use a tactical rifled barrel; these are the latest in tactical paintball gun barrels…. a good one is the Flute Sniper Barrel.  You can find all of these sniper accessories on our site as well as many sniper paintball markers that already comes with everything we’ve mentioned.

If you want to be a successful paintball sniper, what gear should you use?  Gear is a very important part of being a successful sniper.  First, you will need camouflage to make it harder to be seen (And don’t where white sox with that, because if you do you’re some kind of a dumb ass).  If you want to go all out, get a sweet camouflage Ghillie Suit to become totally invisible.  You also need a good paintball mask or goggle system.  You will spend a lot of time on the ground, and it’s very possible you will get hit in the facemask.  You also want to keep it clean to make it easier to spot opposing players.  The Hawkeye paintball mask and tactical helmet is a great combination for tactical paintball and a good addition to your sniper gear collection.

Another important item needed is a paintball gun.  A lot of snipers use the new T68 Gen6 tactical paintball marker because it’s so interchangeable with different barrels and handguards.  It also has a built in Flexi-air system so you can attach your remote line in an advantageous place that’s better when you’re laying down in sniper position.   Use which paintball marker brand that works best with your abilities.  It is important to keep the gun clean and smooth.  You also should try to get a dark gun instead of any stainless steal.  It kind of ruins your cover.  A good sight or paintball scope is also very important.  You have to make the first or second shot count so a sight is needed.  A new product from NcStar is the Red Dot Scope with laser attached and this is an excellent addition to any sniper’s box of toys.  Another good paintball sniper scope is the good old reliable rubber armor 3-9X40.  Also check out the new 45 degree swivel bipods just released from RAP4 - these allow you to swivel your paintball sniper rifle 45 degrees in either direction so you don’t have to pick up your bipod to switch direction and shoot at someone else.
